Service Writer / Service Intake

Reports to: Service Lead
Job description:
  • Greets customers at the Service Counter
  • Performing in-take of customer bicycles for repair/maintenance
  • Ascertains bicycle problems by listening to customer’s description of symptoms; clarifying description of problems; conducting inspections; taking test rides; checking bicycle maintenance records; examining service schedules.
  • Prepares work orders by describing symptoms, problems, and causes discovered, as well as repairs and services required; obtaining approval signatures; entering work orders into service database system.
  • Develops estimates by costing parts, and labor. Obtains approval for estimates, provides expected return of bicycle
  • Obtains contact telephone numbers and email for customers. Calls customers to remind them of upcoming service appointments, and calls customers to remind them to pick-up bikes that have been serviced
  • Maintains bicycle records by recording problems and corrective actions planned.
     Enhance organization by accepting new and different requests; exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishments.
  • Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities such as industry and manufacturer training.
     Keeps shop clean and organized, brings bikes to and from warehouse.
  • Take responsibility of maintaining work order database.
  • Tracks Service Center goals
On the spot repairs and Assembly
  • Performing minor repairs such as derailleur and brake adjustments, flat repair and other various quick fixes.
  • Uses down time to assemble new bikes from boxes.
Other details
  • This job will provide on the job training.
  • Bicycle maintenance experience not required, strong interest in bicycles is.
  • Previous bicycle shop experience not required, customer service experience is an asset.

Sales

Reports to: Store Manager
Job Description:
Sales
  • Sales Staff greets and engages with customers. Strike up conversations, listen to the customers’ needs and make product suggestions.
  • Make recommendations on additional products that would improve the quality of the customers’ rides.
  • Follows the Trek Guide Sales process
  • Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities such as industry and manufacturer training.
Cleaning
  • Retail is detail; down time is spent dusting and polishing product, dusting light fixtures and walls, sweeping and mopping.
Merchandising
  • Store Merchandising consists of but is not limited to product placement, sorting, straightening, cleaning, pricing audit, and re-stocking.
Miscellaneous Duties
  • The Sales Staff will perform other duties as prescribed by management as needed. This may include things like unboxing bikes for the Service Dept. 
  • The responsibilities of the daily task list are shared among all sales staff.

  • Previous bicycle shop experience is not required, strong interest in Bicycles is.
  • Customer service experience is an asset.
